Al Vaccaro MS CCC-SLP

They/Them.

I am an Autistic/ADHD human, ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist, Coach, Consultant, Advocate, and Educator based in Portland, Oregon.

I am queer, non-binary, and chronically ill. My pets, Swarley, Mojo Jojo, and Waffles, are my entire world. I love fostering animals, thrifting, tattoos, being outside, playdoh, questioning social norms, cinnamon rolls, bright colors, geometric designs, and any sort of swing or hammock.

I could talk forever on my passion for working with and being a part of the autistic community.

*I have a bachelors degree in Communication Sciences/Disorders and Linguistics from the State University of New York at New Paltz.

*I have a masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Utah. I graduated in 2018 and have worked in a wide variety of settings with a wide variety of ages and populations in my time as an ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist.

*I discovered I was Autistic in 2019. This led me to entirely overhaul my personal life and professional focus.

*I have done, and am still doing, an immense amount of work to unmask and better understand my brain and my body. This lived experience impacts my professional work beautifully.

*I have spent the last few years immersed in the Autistic community, listening to perspectives and experiences of others.

*I began formally consulting, coaching, and presenting/educating in 2020. I enjoy presenting/training various educational and medical professionals, recreational professionals, high school students, graduate students, and a variety of other clinicians and community members.

All of my services are based on Autistic/ADHD lived experience and designed to be neurodiversity affirming. I believe in building and maintaining connection, considering intersectionality, and utilizing trauma informed concepts of care.
